Cats - dangerous objects, chemicals and places

Unlike humans, cats cannot use their tongue to ‘spit’ objects out so more likely than not whatever is in your cat’s mouth will be swallowed.

Below are some common things cats like to play with, which can cause injury. Risks range from choking or digestive blockage, burns (in the case of batteries), poisoning (in the case of moth balls) or accidental strangling.

Keep these objects safely out of your cat's reach or keep a watchful eye out when your cat is near:

Balloons
Batteries
Bells from toys
Buttons
Dental Floss
Elastic bands
Electrical cords and holiday lights
Fishing gear
Loose change
Mothballs
Paper clips
Plastic bags
Screws, nails, nuts and bolts
Thread, string or yarn
Tinsel
